Princeton Identity Appoints Two Leaders to Drive Biometrics Growth

A flurry of high profile appointments in the biometrics industry includes two by Princeton Identity and one by Alcatraz AI, as well as a new CEO for TBS and board member for Synaptics. In related technologies, Ambiq and Vuzix have both named new leaders in their C suites.

Princeton Identity Strengthens Business Development Design and Leadership

Princeton Identity has added a new director of business development and senior vice president of technology as the company plans to expand its biometric solutions portfolio in 2022 and beyond.

Senior Vice President of Technology Harish “Harry” Seth joins Princeton Identity after 16 years of industry experience developing and commercializing optical sensors for photonics and fiber optic sensor technologies. He has worked at Ocean Insight and Coherent, and with PI will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products, incorporating the latest innovations in engineering, manufacturing and automation, and providing support for the improvement of the company’s operational processes.

“I’m very excited about Princeton Identity’s solutions and I’m confident we have the team, technology and tools to make an immediate and lasting impact in the biometrics market,” says Seth.

Westin R. Wolfenden becomes director of business development, bringing his experience as a business development manager to Kastle Systems’ Stat-Land Security division.

Wolfenden will be responsible for engaging with new and existing customers to identify opportunities for the use of biometrics in residential, commercial and private security environments.

New TBS CEO

TBS (Touchless Biometric Systems) has a new CEO, with Stefan Schaffner taking over from Alex Zarrabi to guide the growth of the Swiss biometrics provider’s footprint and bring new innovations, the company announced.

Schaffner has over two decades of leadership experience, most recently as CEO of Johnson Controls Switzerland.

“TBS has experienced significant growth and consolidation over the past few years, and I thank Alex for his invaluable contribution,” said TBS Chairman of the Board, Dr. Daniel Kohler. “The next phase of our global growth will be led by Stefan Schaffner, who brings many years of experience in the security industry. We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to this new chapter of expansion for TBS.

Zarrabi returns to Alpine Switzerland, which he founded before joining TBS as CEO. Alpine and TBS intend to collaborate in the future, according to the announcement.

Alcatraz adds biometrics veteran to lead international sales

Marco Emrich was introduced as Alcatraz AI’s new international sales manager to help expand the reach of its edge-based biometric facial authentication and analytics technologies.

Emrich previously served as Vice President of International Business Development for EyeLock and held C-level positions at several companies.

The company also updated its biometric access control platform for easier integration with third-party software just days ago.

Ambiq hires its first CFO

Ambiq has appointed Mark Voll as Chief Financial Officer, a position in which he has 30 years of experience at several listed companies.

Voll led Aquantia’s IPO in 2017 and its sale to Marvell Semiconductor in 2019. He is Ambiq’s first chief financial officer.

Vuzix promotes GM to COO position

Vuzix has named Pete Jameson as COO, promoting him from general manager to lead the next phase of growth for its mixed reality wearables, Proactive reports.

Jameson also held the same position for smart glasses manufacturer Osterhout Design Group and has 20 years of experience in the field.

Synaptics adds a member to the board of directors

Synaptics has announced that Vivie “YY” Lee, who currently serves as an independent director and consultant for a technology company, has joined its board of directors.

Lee previously served as CEO of FirstRain Inc. and CSO of Anaplan, and co-founded Aqueduct Software.
