Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric enabled digital service for retirees. Retirees from central government, state government or any other government organization can avail this facility. More than one million families in India can be classified as retirement families, where the pension provided by the various government bodies forms the basis of their income and sustainability.
There are about 50 lakh retirees from the central government and a similar number from the various state and UT governments and various other government agencies. This includes retirees from various public sector companies. In addition to this army and defense personnel superannuation exceeds 25 lakhs.
Jeevan Pramaan: What is a digital life certificate?
The Digital Life Certificate Scheme for Indian Government Pensioners known as Jeevan Pramaan seeks to address this problem by digitizing the entire process of securing the Life Certificate. It aims to streamline the process of obtaining this certificate and make it simple and much easier for retirees.
Jeevan Pramaan uses Aadhaar platform for retiree biometric authentication. Successful authentication generates the digital life certificate which is stored in the life certificate repository. Pension paying agencies can access the certificate online.
Jeevan Pramaan: How to Get Life Certificate
Obtaining a Digital Life Certificate is hassle-free and can be obtained through various Jeevan Pramaan Centers which are operated by CSCs, Banks, Government Offices or by using the client application on any computer/mobile /Tablet. Download the pc/mobile/tablet app to register for a life certificate.
After successful authentication, an acknowledgment SMS is sent to your mobile number including your Jeevan Pramaan certificate ID through an external website which opens in a new window. Certificates are stored in the Life Certificate Repository to make them available anytime and anywhere to the retiree and the pension disbursing agency.

Digital Life Certificate Submission via UMANG App on Mobile:
Retirees should download UMAMG app from Google Play Store, search for Jeevan Pramaan and click generate life certificate. The retiree authentication page will open. Required information to provide for DLC generation.
Jeevan Pramaan: How to Submit Life Certificate Offline
Citizen Service Center (CSC) / Aadhar Seva Kendra:
Visit the nearest CSC or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Provide Aadhaar number, mobile phone number, pension payment order number (PPO), account number and name of pension sanctioning authority. Then provide biometric data (fingerprints).
In case of successful Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, Jeevan Pramaan will be generated with unique ID called Pramaan ID as acknowledgment. In order to make a valid life certificate online and its submission, you need to check the list of documents provided
