EA employee suspected of stealing Apex Legends accounts to sell them

An Apex Legends player has revealed that a thief, who claims to be an EA employee, stole his account worth over $ 3,000. The Thief appears to have unprecedented levels of access to the player and their communications.

During an ongoing trade on the EU’s ranked server, an Apex Legends player had his account stolen by someone claiming to work for EA, the game’s publisher.

After showing the offensive player his in-game account, which included everything from Predator badges to the coveted Heirlooms, the thief stole the account, continually changing the email address and password to ensure that it remains locked.

It gets even more bizarre, as Reddit user karankhushalani explains exactly what has happened in the past few days.

As most players would, Karan immediately contacted EA support in an attempt to regain control of the account. However, things quickly turned from bad to worse.

“So I went to EA Support and got it and thought it was weird but I got it back now. I’m literally in the MIDDLE of the recovery process that I’ve memorized over the years. Last 48 hours after seven resets (they deactivate the account, they change email, they send you a link to change pass, then they reactivate) and he changes back email! Every time he steals my account, I’m not getting any email, no ‘your email changed’, no 2FA (two-factor authentication) codes, nothing.

From there, the culprit reconnected with him on Discord. “He adds me back to Discord in the middle of my third support request now, and starts saying ‘let me know when you’re done talking to Yaman (my current support rep). I wait.’ This is quickly followed by a claim that the thief works for EA.

Finally, a support rep called Xar forwarded the issue to his boss after seeing Karan’s screenshots from the Discord chat, who claims the issue is “more than likely an employee abusing his access.”

EA’s “Xar” has indicated that he will investigate the character used by someone on the EA Support Account (real names are often not used by support members) and the player should wait. an update.

EA’s “Xar” claims the thief is “more than likely an employee.”

However, this is apparently not a single isolated incident. Karan notes that another friend had an account with four stolen heirlooms, and that there are ten other incidents reported on the internet.
