Freevolt Technologies has been selected for this year’s Scaleup program to accelerate the commercialization and growth of the company as well as the launch of the S-Key biometric smart card product.

Freevolt is a UK tech company developing what it describes as next-generation biometric smart card products for the access control, cryptocurrency wallet, healthcare and payments industries. Its technologies recycle and recover radio frequency (RF) energy from radio transmission networks (e.g., NFC, cellular, Wi-Fi, etc.) and aim to provide advanced biometric smart cards that offer fraud protection and security. Improved security without forcing changes to card reader infrastructure or user experience.

The company was accepted into the Innovate UK Scaleup program, following a three-step selection process. The Scaleup program supports a select group of companies on their journey to exponential growth.

The program is designed to support “innovative, ambitious and high-growth companies” already in development, whose innovations or business models may disrupt an existing market. High impact engagement and early stage results can include access to finance, investment readiness or internationalization plans.

At the center of the service is a team of high-caliber scale-up directors who work together as a board of directors and provide each of the program companies with a skills and connectivity matrix. Scaleup Directors will help Freevolt Technologies structure itself for global growth and work with the company to understand the particular set of needs it faces on its journey to scale.

Lord (Paul) Drayson PhD FREng, President of Freevolt Technologies, said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected for the Scaleup program. Following the fantastic work done by the Freevolt team as part of our Innovate UK grant, we are now in a position to launch and market our S-Key product. We would like to thank Innovate UK and UKRI for their continued support, and we are delighted with the boost the scale-up program will provide as we grow into this next phase of our business. “

Maxine Adam, Business Growth Manager at Innovate UK, says: “Our work with the team at Freevolt Technologies is a prime example of the value this program can add to the efforts of the business leaders we support. Contributions are varied and combine strategic thinking with invaluable practical tactical advice, to create results that deliver real business advantage. It is a pleasure to work with the directors of Freevolt Technologies at this pivotal time for their company.
